May has arrived, as has a whirlwind of activity.  The James Manning House is ready and excited for the approaching summer season.  Spring has seemed to have slipped by in a hurry with the recent warm weather bringing out the leaves on the trees and flowers in the gardens.  Our renovations for the year have been completed and we’re ready to welcome all the summer travelers for whatever brings them our way.  The Stourbridge Line, our passenger/excursion train, is back on the rails in Honesdale.  The town celebrated with a street festival full of activity, one of several planned this year.  Outdoor enthusiasts will be joining the trout fishermen in the enjoyment of the lakes and rivers.  Picture perfect picnic spots are waiting in the forests or in state parks.  Have you ever tried some disc golf? The Prompton Lake course is a member of the Profession Disc Golf Assoc. and is free to play. Our museums have added new exhibits and are ready for summer hours. There is a wonderful Vietnam War photography display in the Historical Society.  Flea markets, farmer’s markets, and yard sales are now the norm for any given weekend.   There may not be a major attraction, such as Hershey Park, in this area of Pennsylvania but the time-tried and true, old-fashioned entertainment of Penn’s Woods are relaxing, enjoyable and memorable.  Plan a trip and try out something different, soon.
