Sunday, June 9, 2019 1-3 p.m. Open House and Garden Tour
Come and celebrate our history with a tour of the house, and stroll through the gardens. The history, architecture and character of the house will be featured. Guests are invited to tour the rooms and learn about the early days of the house and the Bethany area. Outside visitors are encouraged to stroll the grounds and extensive gardens, taking in the heirloom peonies and new garden plantings. Throughout the property, guests will be offered tidbits of appetizers and desserts prepared by family members from the Manning and Heinly families. Janet and family will be cooking and sharing recipes from their family traditions.
Christy Faatz Canzler, a great, great, great-granddaughter of James Manning will be preparing some family-favorite recipes, some new, some old. Christy and her sister are traveling from Oregon to cook in what is their ancestral family kitchen. They will be teaching and sharing recipes with Janet, her daughters and sister. Janet and family will be cooking and sharing recipes from their family traditions. Open House and Seasonal Cheer. The James Manning House is proud to host the Wayne Highlands Chamber Choir singing Christmas Carols. . And for your pleasure, seasonal “goodies” on the table, with full holiday decor throughout the inn. Make your reservations soon.
Christmas in the Village also features additional Open Houses, Bethany United Methodist Church is hosting, “A Keepsake Christmas for Families”, with hands on craft. and Bethany Library hosts Mrs. Claus helping children write letters to Santa Claus. There will be a “Tricky Tray” and tree lighting at Bethany Village. Tour the Historical Society and more!
Stourbridge Line Train Rides:
Our favorite time of year is coming up fast!
It’s time for everyone’s favorite Santa Express and Winterfest train rides. Santa will be making a special trip to The Stourbridge Line to see all the boys and girls this year and if they are on the good list he will have a special present for them. Our Santa Express Trains will be approximately 45 minutes and departs Honesdale towards White Mills. Everyone will have a chance to see Santa and take their picture with him as he makes his way through our heated passenger coaches. All Santa Express trains depart our Honesdale Station.
