Are you someone who has trouble with change?  That’s usually my MO but I had been thinking about some furniture rearranging in the Lancaster Room for some time.  One day after the holidays I just started to push the bed, then a wee bit farther, then next thing you know I was moving the dresser to slide the bed to the other wall.  In a short period of time I had the bed in a new spot, the dresser on a different wall, nightstands and lamps rearranged and borrowed from another room.  And I said to myself, “It’s good!  I like it! There’s more space.”  Of course this created some minor problems, such as, I couldn’t plug in any lamps, the carpet doesn’t work this way, two large pieces of furniture next to each other isn’t right, etc.  I called Warren to come upstairs, I wanted to show him something.  He walked into the room and said, “I like it, it makes the room look bigger. We’ll have to get rid of the armoire.”  Then all the “little” needs were started.  We needed new wiring for the lamps.  A shelf had to be built for the TV, oh yes, and that required rewiring for the cable and outlet.  One of the reasons for wanting to change the room was for a comfortable chair for guests, so furniture shopping was added to the list.  Remember the carpet didn’t work, one side of the bed would have bare floor for feet in the morning.  Off to the carpet store after deciding a whole new carpet would be best.  All this in between having guests in the room!  In the end, I do think all the changes have made the room look bigger, there are more comforts and yes, change can be good!
