2014 has quietly slipped into place and as most of you, we are off and running as if nothing has happened.  Winter has shown its presence several times.  This latest bout has even taught us new terminology: Polar Vortex!  I remember 32 years past, when the wind chill hit -30 degrees F, my daughter’s first birthday.  Our small party of three moms and their four young children, as well as the babysitter, suddenly swelled to a group of 19 when entire families came to stay together and stay warm.  Never saw a  two layer cake stretch so far!  But it was just called winter, with frost on the windows and frozen water pipes.  So this cold snap it was fun to have guests pull in the driveway looking for a room on the coldest night in a decade or more.  They enjoyed the warmth and cozy setting of our B&B and then reported to us that the inn they were planning to stay had closed due to the cold!

A new year, and for me a new endeavor.  I’m not sure how this blog will evolve, not even sure what people might be interested in reading.  That means the subject of the blog will definitely involve many, and hopefully interesting ramblings of an innkeeper.  Keep tuned in for more.
